Sharon - Who or what inspired you to write this book?
Author N. C. Ferrao - I started writing back in 2013 when I accidentally stumbled across a writing website booksie.com. As I started writing and uploading my chapters on the site, I realized how excited my readers got, and that helped me write more and more. That was the first draft of The Cabin.
Sharon - What can you tell us about your book?
Author N. C. Ferrao - Four friends decide to go on a camping trip Two strangers join
All hell breaks loose from there! A weekend camping trip in the forests of Dandeli seemed perfect for friends: Aria, Anya, Matt, and his irritating girlfriend, Zoe. Two strangers join, one calling himself Anya’s secret boyfriend Kai, and the other his best friend Rylan.
Things take a dark turn when a storm rolls in and they are forced to stay over at Rylan’s cabin. That was their first mistake. As secrets are uncovered, a sinister plan unfolds, and deaths follow.
Will they make it out alive?
Sharon - What Genre is your book and why did you make that choice?
Author N. C. Ferrao - My book falls under the YA Thriller genre. I chose that because I love reading Thrillers and Horror and somewhere I felt that YA is the age group I deeply resonate with.
Sharon - How long did it take for you to complete this book?
Author N. C. Ferrao - To be completely honest, this book took about 4 years to be ready. I had completed my first draft back in 2013, but something didn’t feel right. This is my first book, and I needed it to be perfect. When I visited Dandeli with my friends back in 2018, I realized I had found the missing piece of the puzzle – the perfect location.
Sharon - What was the hardest part while writing this book?
Author N. C. Ferrao - This is my first book, although it is not the first one to get published. There was something about this story that I felt was missing and so I had to rewrite it over and over again. I guess that was the hardest part for me.
Sharon - How did you come up with the Title of this book?
Author N. C. Ferrao -I changed a couple of titles before coming up with ‘The Cabin’. It just came to me one day and it felt like the perfect fit.
Sharon - Did you design your book cover or hire a professional?
Author N. C. Ferrao - The book cover was designed by my friend Burhanuddin Shergadwala. He is an amazing designer and has created the exact cover that I was looking for.
Sharon - Did you self-Publish or use a publisher? Who was the publisher and how much time did they take to publish your book?
Author N. C. Ferrao -My book is self-published under Kindle Direct Publishing, Draft2Digital, and NotionPress.
Sharon - How did you celebrate after you completed your book?
Author N. C. Ferrao - I was working in Kuwait at that time, and my co-workers and I had a small party.
Sharon - How do you deal with negative reviews on your book review?
Author N. C. Ferrao - Negative reviews are a part of an Author’s career. They can’t be avoided. I have received some and I don’t take them personally. I merely scan them for helpful advice or any changes I can make to better my writing.
Sharon - When did you start writing?
Author N. C. Ferrao - I started writing at a very young age, back in high school. Those were just short stories. I started writing novels back in 2013.
Sharon - How many books have you written?
Author N. C. Ferrao - I have published 2 books so far and have a few more on the way.
Sharon - Who is your favorite Author and why?
Author N. C. Ferrao -My all-time favorite author is R. L. Stine. I have been reading his work since I was a kid. I love the way he writes. It’s simple, and yet scary (when I was a kid). To this day, I keep reading and following his work.
I am also a huge fan of J. K. Rowling, Christopher Pike, Mary Higgings Clark, Dean Koontz, and many more.
Sharon - What advice would you give to a writer, for their first book?
Author N. C. Ferrao - Start writing!
The first draft of your first book is the hardest to write. Trust me, I took four years. But once you are past that, everything feels like a breeze. So, don’t think twice. Pull up a notebook or laptop and get on writing.
